Petite Pashion: Crazy Print Peeps!

Afternoon Petites, I would just like to start off by saying a HUGE thank you to all of my followers as I am very pleased to announce that Short Couture won my uni blog competition!!! Thank you so much for supporting me and I hope you continue to enjoy my petite posts!

So today's post is dedicated to every short girl's petite passion... Heels!

I came across this stunningggg pair from New Look which start from a tiny UK size 3 and instantly fell in love! I love the beautifully bright colours of the heels and think there a perfect way to add a splash of summery colour to any outfit.  Their crazy floral pattern also really reminds me of the outrageously gorgeous prints used throughout Mary Katrantzou's Spring Summer 2012 collection so not only will they give you that extra bit of height us Petites crave but this dizzying print is also extremely on trend!

Furthermore, when wearing these beauties you are guaranteed to stand out in the crowd (no matter how short you are)!!!!!

I HEART Petites!

I love love LOVE this gorgeously cute red heart morif dress from Topshop's Petite collection!

Not only is the dress girly, cheerful and most importantly, petite, but the playful heart motif and red colour pallett also has a striking resemblance to a garment seen in one of my most favourite designers, Meadham Kirchhoff's Spring Summer 2012 Collection!  (Take a look at the pictures below to see the similarity!!!)

I also loveeeeeeed the AMAZING Tinkerbell like pom pom wedges seen in Meadham Kirchhoff's SS12 show (which the model is wearing with the heart motif dress) so I decided to take a look around to find some witty pom pom wedges from the high street and found this extremely playful leapoard print pair complete with a red wedge and red pom pom from New Look!
Starting at a UK size 3 these are just the right size for tiny petite feet and when worn with Topshop's Petite heart motif dress will complete the playful, summer look perfectly!

Happy playful shopping Petites!

Petite Eva Thinks Tall!

Yesterday saw the start of the annual Cannes Film Festival held in Cannes, France which previews the industries latest films from around the globe.

However my eye was firmly glued to what the celebrities were wearing, well petite ones anyway!

And the 'Best Dressed Petite Award' goes to....... Eva Longoria!

At a tiny 5'2" the Desperate Housewife's star took to the red carpet in a stunning, floor sweeping silver Marchesa dress, complete with a transparent cutaway back section and a beautiful diamante detailed body, leading to an extremely long but gorgeous ruffled train made out of tulle.

I decided to post these pictures of Eva in the hope to inspire us Petites to think TALL when it comes to dressing our petite frames, and as Eva shows, not thinking of petiteness as a restriction truely pays off!

However, as the pictures also show, the impressive length of Eva's train (which appears to be almost as long as Eva herself when laid out!) did cause our petite girl some difficulty on the night, so it may be wise to not think quite so tall when taking inspiration! Unless of course, like Eva, you have your own personal assistant to help you on your way.... I wish!

My Sporty Petite Purchase!

I got this gorgeous dress at the weekend from Miss Selfridge's Petite collection and I love it! Not only is it little in length, perfect for my 5'2" frame, but it is also little in price at only £15!!

The dress is a great buy for  any Petites Spring/ Summer wardrobe because of its on trend sport aesthetic which was all over the Spring/ Summer catwalk, with Victoria Beckham, Alexander Wang and Sportmax doing it brilliantly!

Plus, this sporty trend is the perfect way to get you all in the mood for this years London 2012 Olympics!

If you want to get on board this sporty trend, the key things to look out for are drawstring and elasticated waists, zips and zipper detailing, bomber jackets and sporty mesh fabric.

Happy shopping Petites!

Louboutin Loveliness: Design Museum Exhibition

I have just watched a video from the opening of the Christian Louboutin exhibition which is being held now at London's Design Museum and all I can say is WOW!!!

As a petite, I love and can really relate (as I'm sure you can too!) to Louboutin's quote that he had "never met a woman who wanted shorter legs" so I am very excited to see that Louboutin has dedicated a whole exhibition to his gorgeous leg lenghteners! A good thing about being petite is that we can get away with wearing ridiculously high heels without having to worry about towering over everyone!

This extremely theatrical exhibition, complete with a carousel display, red velvet sofas and mirrors, mirrors and more mirrors, truly reflects Louboutin's assertion that "Every woman wants to be a showgirl" and celebrates the magical twenty year journey of the iconic red sole stiletto.

I have always loved Louboutin heels and they have always been at the very top of my 'If I was Rich List' however this exhibition has made me fall even deeper in love with the red sole beauties! I have put up some of my favourite heels from the exhibition for you all to take a look at!

This not to be missed exhibition will be on until July 9th - Let me know if you go Petites!

Met Gala 2012: Petite Perfect or Short Shocker?

Last night, fashion's finest decended on Manhatten to attend the fashion industy's most glamourous annual party -  Met Gala 2012 - hosted by American Vogue's editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour at New York's Metropolitan Museum.

Of course, I had my eyes glued to what fashion's most finest petites were wearing as they arrived on the red carpet - and whilst some tiny fashionista's got it petite perfect, others were short shockers!

I absolutley love bows, so this had an effect on my decision as to which petite I personally believe was the best dressed of the evening and which was the worse.
Whilst 5'3" American actress Amy Adams looked STUNNING in her black and white Giambattista Valli Couture dress, teamed with a gorgous gold bow belt and gold clutch, 5'1" Christina Ricci looked as if she had been attacked by a giant bow in her otherwise beautiful dress designed by Thakoon. Sadly, I think the bow was massively oversized for Christina's tiny frame..... giving her my label of a short shocker!

I would love to know how you feel about these petites choice of outfit - so please comment!

DIY Heel Makeover!

As a petite, I LOVE my heels!! Not only do they boost my height but they also consequently boost my confidence.
However as a student, I cant afford to keep buying new heels (boooo!) so I decided that I would have a go at giving an old pair a DIY makeover!
I have a really girly style, love everything pink and I'm also loving the S/S12 pastel colour pallet, so I decided to swap the boring black shoe lace from a pair of my last season lace up heels with a pretty pastel pink ribbon to make them that bit more summery.
I am really happy with the result! By making one simple quick and easy change I have really given my heels a fresh, new on trend burst of  spring/ summer colour.

Why not try something similar with a pair of your old heels?!
